In this design thesis, I critically examine the prevalent vertical bar typology in East Asia's high-density urban residential architecture, aiming to challenge and redefine this conventional model. Motivated by the typology's limitations—including repetitive layouts, poor integration with the urban fabric, and inefficient space usage—I propose a thoughtful deconstruction and reconfiguration of the existing form. Through strategic deformation and reformation, I seek to create adaptable designs that respond more effectively to site-specific conditions and contextual demands. This process involves exploring exceptions to conventional designs, reinterpreting spatial qualities, and adapting these insights into innovative architectural forms. My objective is to offer alternatives that enhance the livability and sustainability of urban residential environments, contributing to a more integrated and efficient urban fabric.
